SleepMed Centre for Sleep and Chronobiology - Wilson Ave. Site Clinic
About
Sleep has a medical specialty of its own, and the Centre for Sleep and Chronobiology has been practising it since 1996, when it opened as the first comprehensive sleep disorders clinic of its kind in Toronto. The Wilson Ave. Site Clinic is the centre's North York location, one of two facilities serving the city, alongside the downtown College Street clinic. Each facility includes six newly renovated, daily serviced bedrooms where overnight diagnostic studies take place, and the studies are covered by OHIP, keeping specialized sleep care accessible to Ontario patients. The centre diagnoses and treats the full spectrum of sleep-wake disorders: sleep apnea, narcolepsy, periodic limb movement disorder, restless legs syndrome, insomnia, snoring, and circadian rhythm disorders. Overnight polysomnography monitors patients while they sleep to identify the underlying condition, while daytime assessments such as the MSLT and MWT measure the severity of excessive daytime sleepiness and its impact on daily function. For patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea, the clinic offers the ApneaRx oral appliance, a boil and bite alternative to CPAP, and the centre serves as the Canadian distributor for the device. Referrals come from family physicians, medical and psychiatric specialists, insurers, and other sleep labs, and patients without OHIP coverage can ask the clinic about the fee schedule for non-insured services. The Wilson Ave. Site Clinic is located at 1054 Wilson Ave in North York, with free parking for patients travelling from across the Greater Toronto Area. The clinic operates Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is closed on weekends. To arrange a consultation or sleep study, call (416) 746-3012 or visit sleepmed.ca for the referral form.
